What fabrics are polos made from?
Polo shirts are typically made of 100% polyester, 100% cotton, cotton/polyester, and blends such as 94% poly/4% spandex. Pique is a popular fabric used for polo shirts; it is a knitted weave which produces a texture that appears raised and patterned. Polos with this fabric are durable, have dimension and texture, show sweat less; however, they do tend to wrinkle a bit more than standard jersey knits.
100% cotton polos are often considered to be the most formal polo, and they tend to look more expensive than other blends. This, combined with its traditional look, makes the cotton polo a classic choice for business casual apparel.
Pique is a versatile fabric and is found in sportswear and formal cotton dress shirts, demonstrating its versatility. Polo shirts are often worn for golfing, for fashion purposes, as well as, white tie events. Of course, it's the style of the shirting that makes it suitable for one or the other.

Does Pique shrink?
Pique can shrink a little bit when you wash it so depending on desired fit you might want to order a size larger. Putting it in the dryer may cause it to shrink.
What is the difference between Pique and Jersey?
Jersey is the same fabric used for t-shirts and is made from interloping yarns that produce a fabric with a flat, smooth face. Pique knitting produces a more textured surface, similar to a waffle weave. A pique polo is usually medium weight, and has a thicker, more durable fabric, which shows sweat less.
How can I shrink a cotton polo?
If you wish to shrink your polo turn the heat on the wash cycle to the highest setting. The hotter the water, the more the shirt will shrink. Also, use the highest heat dryer setting. Cotton shrinks most during its first washing, while other fabrics can take multiple washes to shrink.
How do you keep a polo shirt from shrinking?
A cold rinse cycle is best to keep your polo the same size as they went in. In most cases a 20 or even 30 degree wash cycle will be safe too. It is best to line air dry your polo shirts after you wash them.
What fabric does not shrink?
Polyester, nylon, spandex, acrylic, and acetate will not shrink and will resist water-based stains. Most produce static and may permanently wrinkle in a hot dryer, so dry on a low heat setting.
How can you tell if a polo is for a male or female?
Typically, a man's logo placement is on the chest so that way it is aligned with the bottom button. For a lady, it is aligned with the top or middle button.
Why do polo shirts have a longer back?
Traditionally, a polo shirt is longer in the back and shorter in the front to help it stay tucked in when you bend over.
What length polo shirt should I wear?
You want your polo shirt to go just past your waistband, but no further than your mid-fly area.
Should you wear an undershirt with a polo? A polo is traditionally worn as a base or single layer close to the body; an undershirt will add bulkiness underneath it. Some like to wear an undershirt for fashion reasons or due to skin irritation and sensitivity.
