What Are Deep Pocket Sheets?
Contrary to popular belief, deep pocket sheets are not actually designed for people with deep pockets. Rather, they are intended for mattresses that are thicker than average. They usually have a fitted sheet that is at least 16 inches deep, and some may be as deep as 22 inches. This extra depth allows the sheet to fit snugly over a thick mattress, preventing it from slipping and bunching up during the night. While deep pocket sheets are available in a variety of colors and patterns, they typically have a more simple and subdued aesthetic than regular sheets. This is due in part to the fact that they are often used in hotels, where a neutral design is desired. Direct Textile Store offers a variety of bulk deep pocket sheets, an essential item for anyone with a thick mattress, and they can also add a touch of sophistication to any bedroom.
Deep pocket sheets have extra fabric that helps them fit snugly on deep mattresses. No more worrying about your sheets coming undone in the middle of the night! They also stay in place better than regular sheets, so you can sleep soundly without worrying about them bunching up.
They are also great for people with allergies. The extra fabric helps to trap dust and pollen, so you can breathe easier at night. Plus, they're less likely to trigger asthma and other respiratory problems.
Many mattresses today are made thicker than in the past. Quilted pillow tops and mattress toppers increase the height of the mattress that will require a bigger, or deeper pocket fitted sheet to fit over the mattress. So if you mattress has a mattress topper or your mattress is over 14" thick, then regular size fitted sheets may not be able to fit. All of our fitted hospitality sheets will be found listed on the product page and will be sized with the Width x Length x Depth. The depth is how many inches thick the fitted sheets will cover the mattress.
The deepest pocket fitted sheets that we offer are 18"and be found here: Oxford Super T-300, 100% Cotton Sheets.
For mattress over 18" thick, you will not be able to find a fitted sheet that would work. We would recommend purchasing an extra long flat sheet and tucking it under the mattress and use it as a fitted sheet. So instead of a fitted sheet you should purchase the extra long flat sheet as a substitute.
What is considered a deep pocket sheet?
They are usually between 13 and 17 inches and extra-deep sheets may be any depth between 18 and 25 inches. You want to make sure your sheets are not too deep otherwise they will not fit properly and you will need to tuck the excess material under the mattress.
How do you measure
Using either a tape measure or a yardstick measure the distance from the bottom of the mattress to the straightedge. If the distance is greater than 12 inches, you may need deep-pocket sheets. For example, if your mattress is 16 inches high, you need sheets with a pocket depth of at least 18.
All our our hospitality sheets are designed to withstand industrial laundering and will be more durable and comfortable than what you would find at a retail store.
How do deep pocket sheets fit on a bed?
They are designed to fit mattresses that are deeper than the standard mattress. Most deep pocket sheets will fit mattresses that are up to 22 inches deep. When shopping for deep pocket sheets, it is important to pay close attention to the measurements given by the manufacturer. Otherwise, you may end up with a sheet that is too small or too large for your mattress. Another thing to keep in mind is that deep pocket sheets usually have a slightly different construction than standard sheets. They may have elasticated corners or extra fabric in order to ensure a snug fit. However, they are just as comfortable and stylish as any other type of sheet, so there's no need to sacrifice style for function.
The different types of materials
Deep pocket sheets can be made from a variety of materials, including cotton, linen, flannel, and silk. Each material has its own benefits and drawbacks, so it's important to choose the right one for your needs.
The most common type of deep pocket sheet is made from cotton. Cotton deep pocket sheets are known for being soft, durable, and breathable. Another popular material is polyester. Polyester deep pocket sheets are less likely to wrinkle than cotton sheets, and they're also cheaper. However, polyester deep pocket sheets can sometimes feel a bit scratchy. If you're looking for something in between cotton and polyester, you might want to try bamboo deep pocket sheets. Microfiber is soft and smooth like cotton sheets, but they're also more resistant to wrinkling.
