Ringpsun qualities that set Ringpsun apart from other fabrics.
What's the difference between regular cotton or polyester and Ringpsun? Ringspun textiles are made with a very fine, high quality cotton yarn that is spun many times to create a softer, finer, and more durable fabric. Ringpsun are often mistaken for rayon or silk because of their luxurious feel and appearance. So, what's the cost difference? The price of Ringspun is usually twice that of a regular cotton or polyester shirt. But is it worth it? Absolutely! They last longer and typically do not wear out… even after years of use. And they just feel so good on your skin!
The processes for creating regular cotton and ringspun cotton are totally different. Regular cotton is made from soft vegetable fibers that are twisted together to make yarn, which is then woven to make material. Regular cotton is less expensive to make. The same can be said for when making ringspun polyester, also called Spun Poly.
Ringspun cotton or ringspun polyester (spun poly), on the other hand, is completely different. Ringspun yarn is made by twisting and thinning the cotton strands to make a very fine, strong, soft rope of cotton, polyester or a combination of the fibers. Ringspun fabrics are more durable and last longer than their regular counterparts, but will also be more expensive, too. When yarn is ring spun it feels heavier to the touch than regular yarns, and has a much softer feel. When ringspun cotton is applied to polyester (spun poly) the result is an increase in the wick-ability of the fabric. Thus the fabric allows better absorption to pass through versus normal polyester. Furthermore, Spun Poly will get softer with each washing and has been tested to last over 300 washings!
What is the difference between ringspun cotton and 100% cotton?
The term "100% cotton" refers to the composition of the fabric, indicating that the material used is entirely made of cotton fibers. On the other hand, "ringspun cotton" is a specific method of spinning the cotton fibers into yarn.
During the ringspun process, cotton fibers are continuously twisted and thinned until a very fine, long strand of cotton is produced. This method results in a smoother and more refined yarn compared to the conventional open-end spinning process. The yarn from ringspun cotton is then used to weave the fabric.
The term "100% cotton" denotes the material composition, "ringspun cotton" describes the method of spinning the cotton fibers into yarn, influencing the texture and feel of the fabric. Ringspun cotton is often favored for its softer and more durable qualities compared to regular cotton.
