Polyester Versus Cotton
Polyester is more stretchy and durable than cotton is. It is wrinkle-resistant and more color fast as well. Polyester doesn't stain as easily as cotton. Cotton, on the other hand, attracts liquids. This is makes it easier to stain, but also more breathable than polyester. Cotton is also hypoallergenic. Both bring a lot to the table, which is why blended fabrics using both cotton and polyester, are very popular as bed sheets.
Why are colored hem threads important?
Colored hem threads are a very useful feature that is utilized heavily by housekeeping. Usually each size of a sheet set are marked with a colored tag or different colored hemming for easy seperation and identification by the laundry team or housekeeping team. For example, all pieces that are part of a twin set including pillowcases, flat sheet, and fitted sheet, are marked using red threads. All pieces of the full size sheet set are marked using blue threads. All pieces of the queen size sheet set are marked using a brown threads. This way, the sheets can be sorted, folded, and fitted on the correct beds.
